One of the ways I work with people is via the principles of The Feldenkrais Method.

This method was founded by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984). Moshe was one of the pioneers in the uprising of the “mind-body” movement.

He was sought out for his skill and genius in working with complex cases such as children with severe motor disorders and those with stroke, as well as many more common-day ailments, such as lower back pain and whiplash.

In this 20 minute video clip  Dr. Feldenkrais is working with a women who is suffering from neck pain as a result of whiplash.

Observe how she is sitting at the start of the session, as well as her limited movement capacity. Then notice the significant improvement in her body posture, movement ability and overall vitality at the end of the 20 minutes.

Some have said that he (Moshe) looks like a dirty old man…..and yes [um]….he uses some very sneaky tactics to breaks some movement patterns related to how she turns her head, but nothing he does is by accident – Pay specific attention to when he asks for a kiss!

Enjoy! Irene.

PS. A historical note: This film clip is taken while he is demonstrating his method at CERN (The European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva. Not only was Dr. Feldenkrais a movement specialist, he was also a nuclear physicist, therefore he had high prestige in the scientific arena.
