Today’s video focuses on our need for external reward in order to accomplish something, take on a project or finish a course. I’m sure many of you will be able to relate to this.

Remember back to when you were in school, if you went through a traditional school system, and how often you were praised or rewarded based on your report cards or the grades you achieved. From an early age we are taught that if we do well and do the work, we’ll receive a reward, an acknowledgement or a pat on the back.

The other thing you might remember is the number of times that students would ask their teachers the following question: “Is it on the test?” Generally speaking, this was asked because students would omit the material that wasn’t going to appear on the quiz.

Watch the video to learn a little bit more about motivation and drive through a thought process called, “It’s all on the test.”
