WHAT IS A DROP-IN ONLINE CLASS? Just pay for the class and show up (or listen to the recording if you can’t make it live). No weekly commitment or monthly subscription required.
What are chakras? The word chakra comes to us from Sanskrit, and it simply means wheel, disc, or circle. In the ancient Vedic traditions the chakras are a system of 7 such energetic wheels aligned along the spine from tailbone to crown.
While not scientifically provable, there is a tremendous amount of anecdotal evidence and thousands of years of tradition that point to these being real, important structures. As someone who has been working with this system within myself for over 30 years, I feel they are an important part of human health, and learning to work with the chakras can be a very useful part of anybody’s healing journey.
Often, working with the chakras involves using visualization alone, or combining it with breath, and while we will be using these approaches, we will also be keeping the practice grounded in the physical body and in connection to the environment with a trauma-informed lens, so as to keep the practices safe and not overstimulating. Each chakra corresponds to anatomical structures within the human body, so we will be bringing these structures into our explorations.

“Close your eyes and center yourself.”
“Take a deep cleansing breath.”
“Ground into the Earth.”
All these statements are common in the mind-body and somatic trauma healing worlds and while they seem harmless and even nice in concept, such directives can backfire when one is living with a lot of stored up survival stress (aka: trapped trauma).
This NEW Drop-In Class will focus on working with the eyes, breath, and body (with a focus on the legs) so one can experience different ways to connect to ourselves and the environment, so we can move towards greater capacity.
While this class is not about getting a trauma release per se, or to move a shaking or emotional response out, please know that these releases, shakes, emotions, and even memories, can move up and through while doing these basic explorations.
From my experience, when one practices in a graduated, slow, and polyvagal-informed way —which is how I teach—our system not only lets out what it is ready for, it feels relief, and then that deep breath comes in naturally!
This will be suitable for beginners who are keen to learn and experience themselves in a deeper biological way. Advanced students are welcome for added practice and review of the basics.

No problem! This class will be recorded and the video and audio recording will be sent to everyone who registered. This means you can participate and gain the benefits of this guided class no matter where you are in the world and you have the recording to practice to your heart’s (and nervous system’s) content!!
“DO I HAVE TO SIT, STAND, LIE DOWN?”
This lesson will be suitable for ALL resting positions, and you are free to shift from one position to another at any time throughout the class.
“WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE?”
No need for fancy clothes, or props. Just you, your biology, and the environment, together as one. (Oh, and showing up with a curious beginner’s mind!!)
