
Basics of Potent Posture
Posture is more than head up, spine straight, shoulders back. If anything, when we follow “military” rules of posture, not only do we use extra energy, strain muscles and limit our breathing, we also lose connection with the environment and our biological needs.
In this Drop-In Class, Irene will be guiding you through the basics of potent postures from a Feldenkraisian and nervous system perspective. Along with the exploration of standing and sitting, she will also mix in other basics of nervous system health such as resourcing, following impulse and breath.
While this class will be movement-based, you will also learn tidbits of theory so the work we are doing makes sense.
IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE YOU SIGN-UP: For this class, it is recommended that you have access to a firmer chair like a flat kitchen chair, or wooden stool. The ability to move in all directions (forward, back, and side to side, will be essential). We will also stand upright during this class, so be sure you have some space to move around.
