It got people speaking their minds:

Some got grumpy.

Some were sad, and shared their own personal situations of trauma impacting their lives and how tough it has been for them.

Some showcased clear victim identification.

Some shared positive stuff, and here’s one such comment:

I am a strong believer that it takes regulated and driven individuals to change the system (not the other way around; you know, wherein we wait for the system or a saviour to save the day).

Or course, I’d love our social systems to be top notch and fully take care of ‘all creatures great and small,’ but we just ain’t there yet. This doesn’t mean we should not aim for this reality, but right now – the people. The individual people who can do this work and heal, must. It is from their efforts and their offspring that we’ll build that new, better world.

HERE’S THE THING: I do sense we are going in a good direction, and we must keep going.

Especially when it feels like we are in the biggest ‘dark night of the soul’ reality for humanity.

This is when we need to show up even more and do our healing work, and essentially show “them*” who’s boss!

(*Note that “them” could be any of your usual villains on the public stage, to the parent down the road who might be abusing their kid as you read this – this is the time to say, NO MORE trauma.)

As far back as my time working in fitness and personal training (circa 1997-2010), I knew from the start that no matter how much I tried to motivate my clients and class participants, it didn’t work if they didn’t show up. It also didn’t work if they did not SHOW UP for themselves.

I urge you to consider this question:

Do you have internal self-motivation and are you showing up daily for yourself?

If you even hesitate in saying “YES I AM!” then it is time to be more disciplined and courageous, and commit to growing your somatic capacity, building REAL nervous system regulation, and making this a part of your daily life.

And this is not about being a martyr to the somatic trauma healing process. We still need to enjoy some life, laugh, and be human.

If you think about it this way: you drink water, eat a little each day, brush your teeth, clean some dishes, make your bed, shower, etc. All these little things we just do add up to at the very least 15 minutes a day.

These daily to-do’s over weeks and months are a must to maintain a certain level of well-being. When we don’t do them, we suffer.

Re-learning how to build back up our nervous system capacity is NO different.

For your nervous system healing, can you commit to 15 minutes a day?

For my online students, take action: If you have access to my online programs (21 Day, SBSM Foundations, or the Legacy SBSM curriculum), please use these resources you’ve already invested in and ‘push play’ on a recording daily. Print out some transcripts and read them as a morning learning (instead of the social media doom scroll). Watch a video with Q&A or a training call while you’re doing some movement in your living room. Just. Do. Something. Daily.

For those who are not yet my online students, here’s your actionable: Get started with my self-paced SBSM Foundations course (and consider joining the membership too while you are there!).

I sense the 2026 ‘back to school’ energy will be a strong one this year.

To your nervous system health and getting on the ‘back to school’ energy train while it is open for passengers… 🚂
