True story: In one of my professional training sessions focused on working with early and developmental trauma work, I remember our primary teacher, Kathy Kain, say:
“I talk to my clients a lot about their poop!”
Some might laugh at that. Others might feel a twinge of “is that necessary?” Some might sense disgust.
But the truth of the matter is that our ‘poop,’ and the health of our bowels and digestive track, is one of the best indicators of autonomic nervous system health (and of course, regulation).
While diet, toxins, lymph drainage, and other key organ systems, such as the gallbladder, do influence our digestive processes, the nervous system still holds big power over our gut health.
What you’ll also learn in this ‘poop’ video is the other aspects of health, behaviour, and relationship that can improve when we get better nervous system regulation on board.
This short (12 min) video is taken from a longer lecture and Q&A I did back in June 2025 (which is worth a watch if you’re looking for some long form learning, head over for the full experience).
PS Need to stop thinking about poop? Watch this (promise, it’s beautiful).
