This short segment speaks to how we navigate stress and traumatic experiences based on something called a phylogenetic response, which is a fancy way of saying:
We act based on the different portions of our autonomic nervous system and how they are designed to protect and defend given the situation at hand, but also, and maybe more importantly, how these survival systems were wired into us early in life.
