In early 2023, I recorded a video breaking down some of the biggest myths (7 to be exact) around nervous system regulation and healing trauma.

If you’ve been following my lead over the past few years on the importance of building somatic capacity and healing at a more titrated pace, then it’s possible these myths are old news for you.

But if you are new here (or maybe you need a reminder/refresher), know this:

It is okay to go slow, take your time, and pace yourself (à la Mr. Sloth):

The promise of the ‘fast track’ feels good at the moment, but trust me, in most cases it is based on survival (and we want the opposite of this).

Sure, sometimes, maybe, “quick & easy” can be helpful. (For example, having FastTrack – called Nexus in Canada – at the airport is amazing, it really does work!)

But when it comes to healing that sticks, FastTrack is not the best.

Restoring regulation to the nervous system as an adult (when you didn’t get the ingredients to begin with) just is not a quick or easy process. No matter what anyone else tells (or sells) you!

There is NO silver bullet, or simple, one-step solution for healing our deep, biological ‘stuff.’

It’s possible that this video of mine was a bit ahead of its time back in 2023 when a lot of these myths – or as I like to call them, ‘popular press’ practices and ideas that oversimplify our human complexity – were being touted as THE answer(s).

But, from what I see in this whole trauma healing & nervous system regulation “industry” we have today, the cracks are starting to show…

The slow process may not be as Instagrammable, but it is what sticks.
