If I were to pick a ‘word of the year’ for 2023, it might be REGENERATION.
Regeneration is defined as “renewal, revival, or restoration of a body, bodily part, or biological system (such as a forest) after injury or as a normal process.”
Take a moment to really let that definition sink in…
Now, keep it in mind as you watch my latest Vlog.
In this timely video, I share my thoughts on:
- The myth of spontaneous healing and why “just bringing ourselves into the natural environment, eating good food, and connecting with community” probably isn’t enough
- The complexity of being human — how our higher brain and mammalian biology can appear to contradict one another and potentially lead to nervous system dysregulation
- What it means to have a true “window of tolerance,” one that’s positively blooming with resiliency (as opposed to the false one most of us know as normal)
When we give the nervous system what it wants and was designed to thrive on, our ability to process all the hard things we humans live with (and often hide from) like grief and terror and loss and toxic shame becomes almost second-nature…like riding a bicycle.
