“How can you do what you want, when you don’t know what you do.” Moshé Feldenkrais

* * *

So many people start their healing journey trying to shift, improve, and change what’s “bad” for what’s “good” at the outset.

And at first, that makes sense:

Got a thing that isn’t good for you?

Transfer it out for something that is better for you. Easy, right?

The issue with this is that when you add a new technique or practice before rewiring the way in which you sense, move, think and feel, you then build new behaviours on old (“bad”) foundations.

This explains why trying to heal the nervous system by only stacking up techniques and somatic exercises for the sake of practicing, while good in theory, doesn’t always pan out in the end.

I love this quote from the late Dr. Feldenkrais because it speaks to gaining awareness and really knowing ourselves, before we set out to shift and improve.

I wanted to share this idea with you because we released a short clip on my YouTube channel that talks about the kind of detail that I have found is needed when healing chronic pain, with a special focus on back pain (plus I share a specific story wherein I released a stored up memory in my body from age 5!).

So if you live with pain and are wanting to rewire your body and brain to live with less pain, then I highly suggest this short video.
