It’s been 11 years… and I stand by my word on this.
When I sat down to write this, I had a specific direction in mind, but I shifted gears…
I was going to write about my past in the fitness, nutrition, and mind-body worlds,
But instead, I decided to look back and see when I posted my first ever video on somatic trauma healing.
It was September 23, 2014 with my colleague Anthony (Twig) Wheeler: recorded on Skype, with echoey sound and cheesy intro music. 😅 Still, it’s a solid interview that I recommend!
It was at this moment, after I posted my chat with Twig, that I shifted from posting solely on Feldenkraisian movement to somatic trauma healing.
Today, I have a short new video, recorded in my kitchen, where I riff on what I’ve seen since 2014 in the ‘somatic trauma healing’ worlds.
I share some of my concerns, and explain why – after 11 years of teaching, making videos, and now training others – I vow to remain a purist and never dumb down what this work is and how it takes shape.
Simply said: there are zero ‘quick fixes’ when it comes to healing at the nervous system and somatic levels.
I strongly stand by not only my word, but my personal and professional experience.
I’m glad you are here to be part of this legacy.
Have a watch today:
PS I hope you spend a little time today just hanging around and orienting. If you’re in need of a quick demonstration of these basic skills, this one has them mastered. 🐻😉
PPS Ready for some more ‘formal’ teaching on how to orient (in a non-survival driven way)? Get started with my 21 Day Nervous System Tune-Up (it’s lesson #1). Practical exercises, theory, AND professional support… all yours when you begin.
