What is a chronic illness? Why do we experience chronic symptoms? What can we do to find relief?
These are all important questions.
And I provide answers (in under ten minutes!) in this vlog: How stored trauma creates somatic symptoms (aka chronic illness).
Chronic illnesses abound (especially in our Western culture—and that’s a story for another day).
To heal these chronic symptoms, we need to understand why they’re showing up in the first place.
Allow me to sum up:
- Chronic illnesses (things like fibromyalgia, chronic pain, IBS, Crohn’s disease, migraine headaches, severe PMS, chronic anxiety/depression) are rooted in experiences of early trauma and chronic stress.
- These experiences cause the system to shut down and disconnect us from the body. (Not a mistake—a form of self-protection!)
- As adults, we can heal by reconnecting to the body.
For some readers, this information will be a review. For others, it might be the truth they’ve been searching for—sometimes for decades.
