I caught this great vintage Tony Robbins clip not too long ago that I want to share with you…
If you’re here, learning about your nervous system, maybe considering whether this work is for you, but also thinking: “I’ve tried everything, but nothing’s worked. So why is this any different?”
… then my sense is that YOU need to hear this.
Because the truth is: there will NEVER be a time when you HAVE actually “tried everything.”
It’s a one-minute clip so it won’t take long. Watch it a few times if you can! Go ahead, I’ll wait…
Okay, so I want to underline 3 key pieces of Tony’s message that relate directly to nervous system work in the way that I teach it, and, in particular, to SmartBody SmartMind™ (SBSM):
- “Maybe you just need to change your approach.”
If you’re like the majority of people around here, this isn’t your first rodeo. In fact, I’d say most of our alumni have tried at least one, but usually several, of the many different new modalities for nervous system health & healing before making SBSM their “home base.” So, if you think you’ve tried everything, maybe you just need to change your approach? Because SBSM is different than everything else out there (I get into why in this blog)..
.
- “You gotta believe that you can.”
It might sound like a motivational cliché, but it’s actually the first of my three essential ingredients for healing that sticks, which is: we must believe we can heal and are deserving of it. The other two being: we must have the right support to heal AND we must understand how neuroplasticity works and how to work with our stress physiology..
.
- “If you live in the past, then I guarantee your future will be the same way.”
This connects to another topic that I have spoken about time and time again. Yet every time I do, it tends to stir up a lot of controversy. And that is victimhood. Specifically, it is the difference between being a victim and identifying yourself as one, which is an important thing to “get” because it can mean the difference between moving forward and healing, or staying stuck in the past, repeating the same trauma cycles over and over… .
I ALSO want to underline that NONE of the above are just clever marketing tactics. They are the game-changing truths that I, my colleagues, and thousands of my students around the world – many of whom have defied the odds of their past to be where they are today – live and breathe.
And with every 12-week round of SBSM, come more new stories of healing and hope…
Stories like Hosannah’s, who has early developmental trauma following long-term sexual abuse.
In her 4-minute testimonial (to be released later this month*), she shares how, after a lifetime of “swimming and drowning in the pain,” she is finally able to experience peace and to “just be…”
Hosannah’s story is testament to how it comes down to each person’s desire to heal and break free from their past. AND to the difference that the right learning, tools, and support can make.
