I have a short video for you on an important nervous system health basic—the breath (and how to use it properly when healing trauma at the nervous system level).
There is SO much misinformation out there right now surrounding this topic in the mind-body healing world, so I wanted to take the opportunity to set the record straight.
Let me start by saying that I have nothing against breathwork—there can be a time and a place.
But when it comes to deactivating our stored survival responses and restoring true regulation to our nervous systems, “taking a deep breath” isn’t going to cut it.
To heal (for real), we need to connect to our physiology in a way that’s a bit more refined. This involves listening, sensing, feeling, being with, and noticing the breath…not so much controlling, manipulating, or forcing it.
I break it all down for you in this video.
Watch it here.
